We surveyed Sydney shoppers to find out where they get their gourmet food products from. It turns out that gourmet food wholesalers Sydney supply everyone, the supermarkets, the delis, the bodegas, the corner cafe if they have a gourmet section, and they supply homes, hotels and restaurants too. Some of them even supply airlines. The difference is that not everyone stocks the same things. A deli is more likely to have a much wider range of gourmet products than a corner cafe or a supermarket will have. The orders that the deli or supermarket or cafe, hotel or restaurant or airline, depends on their customer base and what their customers want and expect. It is about understanding customers’ needs and also understanding their budgets.
The budget of a gourmet food shopper
Not every gourmet food shopper has a huge budget and the wholesale food suppliers know and understand this, which is why they have such a big selection of food products and supplies. They might supply a luxury gourmet deli with ten different types of olives, all imported, but they might supply a supermarket with six local types of olives and just two imported types of olives. A deli would have a range of fabulous and international cereals, chocolates or crisps, whereas a supermarket may have mostly local cereals, chocolates or crisps, with the odd international gourmet supply to entice certain customers or to keep certain customers happy. Some people like to do all their shopping at the supermarket so they do not have to schlep from the supermarket to the deli. This is why most supermarkets stock a range of things, and to be honest, it is why many delis also stock local products. Everyone has a different budget as well and the supermarket or deli needs to consider this if they want to keep their customers.
What do gourmet shoppers want?
The question could be what are gourmet food products and again, this answer depends on the shopper. Some shoppers see a variety of cheese as a total necessity and others may see it as gourmet. I know the deli that I shop at has the most incredible range of gourmet products, cheese, meat, olives, artichokes, dips, cookies, coffees, chocolates, and so much more, and I always walk out with much more than I meant to. And I pay a hefty price for it. Could I do the same kind of shopping at a local or general supermarket? I definitely would not get the same range of products, that’s is for sure. Gourmet shoppers all want different things but I guess that the basics of gourmet shopping, a contradiction in itself, wold be imported goods or luxurious local goods.
Gourmet foodies
Some people like to have gourmet foods or wholesale foods delivered to their homes by gourmet food wholesalers Sydney especially if they are big entertainers or have a big family and like to keep their pantry and fridge or freezer well stocked.
